They were expected, they are now official. Xiaomi has just unveiled its entire Redmi Note 12 range for the Chinese market. Composed of four smartphones, this new series seems to have the means of its ambitions, and offers an impressive quality / price ratio.
The Redmi Note 12 concluded the conference, but it is of particular importance for the firm. This very affordable model is notably equipped with a 6.67-inch Oled screen displaying in Full HD +, and which benefits from a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. It is supposed to reach a peak brightness of 1200 nits, which is worthy of the top of the range. Everything is IP53 certified and can therefore withstand light splashes of water and dust.
The smartphone is powered by a Snapdragon 4 Gen 1, a 5G SoC engraved in 6 nm. The chip is paired with 4.6 or 8 GB of RAM and 128 or 256 GB of storage. On the photo side, Xiaomi has opted for a 48 Mpx main module, accompanied by a 2 Mpx depth sensor (f / 2.4).
Finally, the Redmi Note 12 has a 5000 mAh battery compatible with 33 W charging. Like all the mobiles presented, it will run on Android 13 and MIUI 13.
Despite inflation, fares are expected to remain among the lowest in the market. So here they are:
• 4 + 128 GB: 1199 yuan (165 euros excluding tax);
• 6 + 128: 1299 yuan (180 euros excluding tax);
• 8 + 128: 1399 yuan (193 euros excluding tax);
• 8 + 256: 1599 yuan (220 euros excluding tax).
A Pro who promises
The Redmi Note 12 Pro operates a nice move upmarket while remaining inexpensive. It also has a 6.67 Oled screen displaying Full HD +, which benefits from a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. Its panel, certified Dolby Vision and HDR10 +, would reach a luminous peak of 900 nits. With its dimensions of 162.9 x 76 x 7.9 mm and its weight of 187 grams, it remains in the average of current smartphones.
Under the latter, we find a Dimensity 1080, a redesigned version of the friendly Dimensity 920 already seen on the Redmi Note 11 Pro + 5G. The set is supported by 8 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of UFS 2.2 storage.
On the back, we discover the famous IMX766 of 50 megapixels from Sony (f / 1.9). A sensor that has already proven itself on mid-range and high-end smartphones launched last year. We also note the presence of an ultra wide-angle of 8 Mpx (f / 1.9) and a macro module of 2 Mpx (f / 2.4). At the front, it’s a 16 Mpx sensor that will take care of selfies.
The 5000 mAh battery is compatible with fast charging at 67 W. Once again, the advertised prices remain very correct:
• 6GB + 128: 1699 yuan (234 euros excluding tax);
• 8 GB + 128: 1799 yuan (248 euros excluding tax);
• 8 GB + 256: 1899 yuan (262 euros excluding tax);
• 12 GB + 256: 2099 yuan (289 euros excluding tax).
Always more pixels
As its name suggests, the Redmi Note 12 Pro+ wants to give us more for our money. It is a rather imposing smartphone, being 9 mm thick and weighing 208 grams. Not surprisingly, the firm chose the same panel and the same SoC as on the Redmi Note 12 Pro.
It stands out in terms of photography and charging. It is indeed equipped with a main sensor of 200 Mpx whose lens opens at f / 1.65. It is a Samsung HPX which measures 1/1.4 inch, and should equip several models planned for the coming year. The remaining modules are the same as on the Note 12 Pro. Ambitious equipment for a mid-range.
The firm has also opted for a 5000 mAh battery, this time compatible with recharging at 120 W. A technology that should make it possible to refuel in less than half an hour.
The rates :
• 8 + 256 GB: 2099 yuan (289 euros excluding tax);
• 12+256 GB: 2299 yuan (317 euros excluding tax).
Never three without four
Xiaomi has kept one last model for the end of its event: the Note 12 Discovery Edition, so far referred to as the Explorer Edition. A smartphone that incorporates all of the Note 12 Pro + technical data sheet, but offers a 4300 mAh battery rechargeable at 210 W. Unheard of on a smartphone.
Redmi specifies that it will be possible to fully charge your mobile in just 9 minutes. To limit the heating that we are entitled to fear with such a fast charge, the device incorporates a 3000 mm² vapor chamber.
Its slightly more compact battery allows it to display the same weight as the Note 12 Pro (187 grams). Available in an 8+256 GB version, it costs 2399 yuan, or approximately €330 excluding taxes. Like the other Redmi Note 12, the smartphone is currently only announced in China. We will therefore have to wait for an official communication from Xiaomi to find out which ones will be marketed in Europe, and above all to know their price in euros.
