Will it happen? Chelsea are edging closer to another space transfer – Football World – Other

Chelsea are doing everything possible to complete the transfer of world champion Enzo Fernandez before the winter transfer window closes. After the negotiations between the Londoners and Benfica were “frozen” for more than 20 days, yesterday the “blues” renewed the talks again.

According to David Ornstein, they are already in an advanced phase, with the help of influential agent Jorge Mendes. Stamford Bridge have recently announced that they will pay the full buyout clause in Enzo Fernandez’s contract. Its amount is 120 million euros. The amount will be paid in full, without parts of it in the form of bonuses, as information appeared yesterday.

Also, Chelsea will not include their own players in the offer. The only thing that the two clubs have to agree on is the way in which the English will pay this 120 million. Benfica want the entire clause to be paid immediately, but that cannot happen because of the Financial Fair Play pressure on Chelsea. Therefore, the English club wants to transfer the amount in several installments.

Until now, Chelsea have used the tactic of paying large transfer fees over the course of new signings’ entire contracts. This is exactly why new purchases sign long-term contracts for 7-8 years. According to the information, the contract that Fernandez has agreed to will also be until 2030 with a salary of 10 million euros per season.

There are new talks scheduled for today. A delegation from the English club should arrive in Portugal, which believes that after a successful end to the negotiations, it will return to London together with Enzo Fernandez.
