73 laps were completed by Ferrari drivers Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz during the the Friday practice sessions before the Belgian Grand Prix. The pair finished the first day at Spa-Francorchamps in second and fifth positions in the standings. Leclerc has penalties for changing drive components in the powertrain. That’s why he works more in long series, as he will continue on Saturday.
“It’s great to be back on track after the holidays. We did quite a few laps in the variable track conditions. Rain appeared in various places along the track. It is still difficult to ascertain how the forces are distributed this weekend. All the teams have completely different programs.”
“Tomorrow we will mainly concentrate on our race pace. “Qualifying doesn’t really matter because of the penalty (for changing powertrain components),” noted Leclerc.

Carlos Sainz called his Friday a good one
“In the first practice I felt good about the balance of the car. In the second session we tried some changes that didn’t go as expected and I lost the good feeling. However, I’m confident we know how to find our missing lap time tomorrow. The pace in long runs was fine and I believe we are in a good position for the rest of the weekend,” added the Spanish Ferrari driver.
🇧🇪Overall it was a good Friday. I felt comfortable with the balance of the car in FP1. For FP2 we tried some changes, but they didn’t work as expected. However, we know where to find the lap time, so I believe we are in a good place.
