Max Verstappen took his second consecutive Formula 1 win after triumphing at the Spa circuit in Belgium. The Red Bull driver races under the Dutch flag, but was actually born in the Belgian town of Hasselt. The win was the world champion’s eighth in a total of thirteen starts so far since the start of the season.
Also on the podium were Sergio Perez, also with Red Bull, as well as Carlos Sainz with Ferrari, who finished third. The Italians disappointed again with their strategy – once again this year, and Charles Leclerc was sixth due to a 5 second penalty for speeding in the pit lane.
Lewis Hamilton dropped out on the second lap after a collision with Fernando Alonso, in which he literally flew, but luckily escaped unharmed.
The winner Verstappen, on the other hand, had a great drive and cruised to victory after starting from thirteenth position, taking advantage of the chaos on the track to be third after eight laps, and virtually turning everything in his favor on the 19th lap. Then he led the column, and after that he did not stop increasing his lead.
Perez finished second – 17 seconds behind his teammate, and Sainz was 26 seconds behind Verstappen.
George Russell (Mercedes) finished fourth, followed by Fernando Alonso (Alpin), Charles Leclerc (Ferrari), Esteban Ocon (Alpin), Sebastian Vettel (Aston Martin) and Pierre Gasly (Alfa Tauri) ).
