They found a dead driver and 59 kg of cannabis in a truck with Bulgarian license plates in Greece

A dead driver in the cab of a truck with Bulgarian license plates was discovered by the Greek police. The parked shooting range with the engine running on the side of the road near the village of Paramitia, in northwestern Greece, has raised suspicions among local government police officers who were patrolling the area, reports “Prototheme”.

Law enforcement officers found that the 56-year-old Greek, who was sitting in the driver’s seat, was dead.

There were signs of tampering in the body of the truck, which was carrying supermarket trolleys. Police arrived with a sniffer dog from the anti-narcotics unit, who searched the cargo area and found drugs among the goods. 54 hermetically sealed packages of raw cannabis with a total weight of 58 kilograms and 906 grams were found. The illegal cargo was confiscated together with the truck, which has Bulgarian license plates, but belongs to a Greek company. It started from Spain, crossed by ship from Italy to Igoumenitsa and has a final destination of Athens.

The investigation revealed that a Greek resident of Athens tried to break into the truck, who together with another Greek and two other unknown accomplices, who are being sought, tried to break through the canvas and take the drugs. One of them has been detained, his accomplices are being sought.

An autopsy will also be performed on the driver’s body to determine the cause of his death.
