They announced the fees of Usyk and Joshua, they both receive equally

On Saturday, Oleksandr Usyk will defend the WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO world titles in the heavyweight division of professional boxing. The Ukrainian took them away from British superstar Anthony Joshua with a shock victory for many in London last year, and now the two will face off in a rematch to be held in Jeddah (Saudi Arabia).

Days before the second act of their rivalry, it became clear the fees that the two boxing stars will earn. The surprising thing in this case is that Usyk and Joshua will take the same amount of money. Usually, the boxer who is the champion takes home more money than his opponent, but this will not be the case now.

Initially, the Arab investors financing the match had secured a prize fund of $60 million. But then the amount swelled to $80 million, and no matter who won the fight, the two would take equally – $40 million each.

AJ’s fee will be higher than the previous rematch for the world titles in which he took part – in 2019, when he fought again in Saudi Arabia, and his opponent was Andy Ruiz.

Then the Brit surprisingly lost his championship belts in the first match with Ruiz at Madison Square Garden, but then won by unanimous decision after 12 rounds of boxing.
