The US and the West are provoking Russia

Turkey is seeking a peaceful dialogue between Russia and Ukraine, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said, accusing the United States and other Western countries of provoking Moscow, Reuters reported.

Turkish state broadcaster TRT and other media quoted Erdogan as saying that “the West, and especially the United States, seems to be endlessly attacking Russia.” He did not specify exactly what he meant.

“Of course, Russia is showing great resistance in the face of all this,” Erdogan added to reporters on the plane back from Uzbekistan.

Western countries are arming Kyiv and providing it with other aid while imposing tough sanctions on Moscow after its invasion of Ukraine in February, the agency said.

“We are working on how to create a peace corridor here, like we created the grain corridor. We think the best way to do that is the way from dialogue to peace,” Erdogan said, adding that Ukraine’s opinion was also important.

Turkey, a NATO member, hosted talks between Ukrainian and Russian delegations earlier this year and is trying to balance its criticism of the invasion and opposition to sanctions.

Ankara and the UN brokered an agreement on the resumption of Ukrainian grain exports from Black Sea ports over the past four months.

The Turkish president also said that it would be a correct decision for the parties to extend the validity period of the grain export deal through the Black Sea, which expires on November 19.
