The Last of Us: the video game of maturity made in Naughty Dog

In the universe of The Last of Us, a parasitic fungus infects humans who become aggressive, sink into “zombie” madness and can infect their fellow human beings. The epidemic continues to grow, and on September 26 reached the point of no return: theOutbreak Day.

Naughty Dog’s lesson in mastery

The first episode, released on PlayStation 3 on June 14, 2013, was a hit with gamers around the world: a touching, gripping, fast-paced and mature story. The game takes you to the guts from the introduction — that we don’t spoiler not – and we just want to know the end of the story which highlights the links that are woven between a man, Joel, and a little girl, Ellie, over the course of a long adventure of several hours.

After receiving a number of awards, including best game of the year despite fierce competition (GTA V and Bioshock Infinite were released the same year), PlayStation released a second episode (soberly called The Last of Us Part II) on June 19, 2020 using a fairly similar recipe and even more committed words. As expected, success is at the rendezvous.

Beyond the video game

To “celebrate” Outbreak Day each year (September 26), PlayStation and Naughty Dog have created “The Last of Us Day”. This year we were treated to a preview of the HBO series adapted from the first game, with Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey playing the main characters.

On September 2, 2022, The Last of Us Part Ia remake of The Last of Us, was released on PlayStation 5 and will soon arrive on PC. Enough to allow those who did not have a PlayStation to discover this saga, which has already become cult in the history of video games.
