Tennis stars pose with pro Roger for the last time (gallery)

Roger Federer reunited with former competitors, old acquaintances and current tennis stars for a photo shoot ahead of his latest tournament – the Laver Cup.

The maestro is traditionally part of Team Europe, with the competition taking place in London this week – where he won eight Wimbledon titles.

The other stars of Team Europe also took part in the photoshoot, including Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray, Casper Ruud, Cameron Norrie and Stefanos Tsitsipas.

Roger shared one of the photos on social media and wrote: “We’re ready to take over the world.”

He told reporters in London that he had no intention of parting with his favorite sport forever, but emotionally explained why he decided to end his active career.

When asked what his plans are for the future, he stated that he has no intention of “disappearing” like Bjorn Borg once did. It is the Swede who is the captain of the European team in the upcoming tournament.

“I want the fans to know that I’m not going to be a ghost. It’s funny because I talked about it with Bjorn Borg. He didn’t appear at Wimbledon for 25 years and that hurt the fans. I’m not going to be that person. My tennis I’ve given too much and I’ve been in it too long. You’ll see me again. I don’t know in what form because I need more time to think,” the Maestro explained.

The Laver Cup will be held from Friday to Sunday, with each day featuring three singles matches and one doubles match. Federer will not play singles, but his career will end in a special way. On Friday evening in doubles, as an almost certain partner in the match – at his request, will be Rafael Nadal.
