Surprise! Botev takes Loko’s coach

With a 90% probability, the new coach of Botev from Plovdiv will be Stanislav Genchev, “Maritsa” learned. There is also a minimal chance for Ilia Gruev, who is currently actively appearing in the BNT studio as an analyst of the World Cup matches in Qatar.

Genchev currently leads the capital Lokomotiv. The team from the “Nadezhda” district is eighth with 26 points in the temporary ranking of the elite group, more than a good asset considering the club’s modest financial and, accordingly, selection opportunities. Genchev managed to beat the champions Ludogorets and Levski at home, and also drew two draws against the leader CSKA-Sofia.
Before taking over Loko, the former midfielder was an assistant in Eter and Ludogorets, then three times temporary coach of the hegemon from Razgrad.
The 41-year-old coach was born in Dryanovo, has a rich career as a football player in Levski, Litex, Ludogorets, Slavia, Black Sea, Spartak Varna, Montana and abroad. Recorded 7 games with a goal for the national team.
We remind you, Botev was left without a coach officially yesterday, when the parting with Dzeko Kopic was announced. Lyubo Penev, who is leaving CSKA 1948, was also a current option until last night, but things have dried up. Several more names were floated in the public space, including Krasimir Balakov, but according to information from sources from Botev, Genchev and Gruev remained in the final round.
Stanislav will have no problems parting ways with Loko, our source confided. He has already spoken to his superiors about the offer received.
