Sylvester Stallone has responded to Jennifer Flavin’s divorce filing.
In Palm Beach County, Fla., court documents that People magazine said it obtained Monday, Stallone, 76, denies Flavin’s allegations that he “engaged in the willful waste, drain and/or waste of family property, which has had an adverse economic impact on the family property”.
Stallone’s legal team wrote in its response that he was “not involved” in this type of action.
The actor also opposes Flavin’s request to have “usage rights” to their Palm Beach home.
As for attorneys’ fees and legal costs, Flavin asked the court to look at each party’s actions that could potentially prolong the trial, and to encourage “mutual cooperation” to “reduce the costs” of legal fees.
In his response, Stallone noted that his wife had hired an attorney to represent her and agreed to pay their legal fees.
Stallone did not oppose Flavin’s request to return her maiden name and agreed that their union was “irretrievably destroyed”.
Days after Flavin filed for divorce, Stallone denied that their 25-year marriage ended over a dog.
He then commented on reports that their split came after he got Dwight the Rottweiler, and that disagreements over the dog sparked other disputes that led to the divorce filing.
The actor told TMZ that while he and Flavin didn’t get along over the dog’s care — especially since they live in two places and he often travels for work — it didn’t ultimately lead to their split.
“We did not end our relationship over such a trivial dispute. We just went in different directions. I have a lot of respect for Jennifer.”Stallone added.
“I will always love her. She is an amazing woman. She is the kindest human being I have ever met.”
In an exclusive statement, Flavin told People magazine about the split:
“I am saddened to announce that after 25 years of marriage, I have filed for divorce from my husband, Sylvester Stallone. Although we will no longer be married, I will always cherish the 30-year relationship we have built, and I know that we are both committed to our beautiful daughters.”
