Sigma finally releases its 50 mm F1.4 DG DN Art in hybrid mount
At Sigma, the suffix Art denotes high-end lenses that strive for optical perfection. Widespread for SLRs, the range for L-mount and Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras finally sees the arrival of one of its spearheads, the 50 mm F1.4 DG DN Art, a pebble intended for portrait and bokeh enthusiasts. .

A completely new optical formula

For SLR owners, the name of this lens is not new. Indeed, Sigma already has a 50mm f/1.4 DG HSM in its Art range. But for this new hybrid lens, the Japanese optician did not just change the frame: he thoroughly reviewed the optical formula of his latest addition, providing it with an 11-blade diaphragm which should soften bokeh at full aperture (f/1.4).
The new Sigma Art 50mm F1.4 DG DN lens is now based on an architecture composed of 14 elements divided into 11 groups. We are thus entitled to three aspherical lenses and one SLD (super low dispersion) lens.
Nevertheless, the Sigma lens remains quite compact, with 109.5 mm long and 78.2 mm in diameter. In addition, its weight would be 670 grams, which will allow it to slip easily into a satchel without weighing too much on the shoulders.
