Snowpiercer is the new victim of David Zaslav, president of Warner Bros. Discovery. The TNT channel, owned by the American group, will not broadcast the fourth and final season of the series. A brutal decision when the latter is already shot.

Warner’s Great Purge
Adapted from the French comic strip The Transperceneige by Jacques Lob, Benjamin Legrand and Jean-Marc Rochette (1982), this postapocalyptic series is broadcast on TNT in the United States. But as Season 4 was finalized and ready to bring a satisfying conclusion to the story, TNT decided to cut the charges and not air the final 10 episodes.
The news was announced by the channel in a press release: “It was a difficult decision, but our admiration for the talented writers, actors and crew who brought the extraordinary post-apocalyptic world of Snowpiercer stay strong. We’ve been working with the producers for the past year to help the series find a new home where fans can continue to enjoy the captivating story and exceptional viewing experience. We look forward to working with them on future projects.”
The reason ? A will of Warner Bros. Discovery to further reduce costs and achieve greater tax depreciation. After the film Batgirl and the series Westworld, Raised by Wolves and The Time’s Traveler’s Wife, it is one more program sacrificed on the altar of large-scale savings. Warner Bros. also have removed 256 cult episodes from looney tunes and 78 of Flintstones from its HBO Max streaming platform, which are currently unavailable in SVoD.
This policy shows the instability of streaming platforms and their inability to be fair broadcasters. Thus, an astronomical quantity of films and series can be removed overnight from the services and become invisible. However, nothing is lost for season 4 of Snowpiercer.
Saved by Netflix?
Tomorrow Studios, the producers of the program, are currently offering this season 4 to other broadcasters, as well as a potential prequel and a sequel, with the aim of building a long-term franchise.
In France, Snowpiercer has been streaming since 2020 on Netflix, which offers the first three seasons. The streaming platform could therefore take over to broadcast this season 4 for the moment orphan… and why not the future programs of the franchise.
As a reminder, Snowpiercer is set in an entirely frozen world and follows the adventures of the last survivors of humanity as they take refuge on a constantly moving train across the globe. On board, social injustice and class warfare are causing trouble.
