Samsung Galaxy S23: towards a personalized Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for more power

The information is just waiting to be confirmed on February 1, but it seems that Samsung’s future Galaxy S23 lineup will have a slightly different Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor than the rest of Android smartphones.

Since the signing of the partnership between Samsung and Qualcomm, it is almost certain that the next flagships of South Korea will adopt the American platform. The abandonment of the Exynos on the European market, after three difficult years, marks the end of an era for Samsung, which will never have really succeeded in sticking to the performance of its models under Snapdragon, reserved for the North American markets. and Korean.

But as it finally prepares to deploy the latest generation of Qualcomm chips across its entire S23 fleet, Samsung seems to have wanted to do things differently. Its next smartphones would adopt a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 a little more powerful than its conventional version. We are talking about a processor increased to 3.36 GHz, while the high-end American chip is usually clocked at 3.2 GHz. According to this same source, this more powerful processor would have a new name found: “Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Mobile Platform for Galaxy”. An extension title to support the fact that the Galaxy S23 will be entitled to a technical supplement.

There are a little less than two weeks left before being fixed on the chip that will bring the S23, S23+ and S23 Ultra to life. The Unpacked conference will take place on February 1 at 7 p.m., and you can follow it with us on our Twitch channel.
