After the recent withdrawals of TF1 and M6, Salto’s future hung on a choice: sale or liquidation. A choice that seems to have been made, since according to our colleagues from puremediasthe dissolution of the French SVoD platform should be recorded on Friday, December 20 during an internal meeting.
Towards a “cessation of activities”
Indeed, the “cessation of activities” and the “dissolution of the Salto company” appeared on the agenda of an extraordinary central social and economic committee (CSE) scheduled for France Télévisions on January 20. A meeting that will therefore address the future of the streaming platform.
Nothing is official yet, but the future of Salto seems compromised given that no solid buyer has offered to take over the platform. Only the modest Spanish company Agile had made an offer, but it was deemed unconvincing and was not accepted, according to The Informed website.
The most probable scenario is therefore the dissolution “with disposal of assets one by one” to several actors (Netflix, Disney +, Paramount + …), which must act Delphine Ernotte, president of France Télévisions, this Friday. A sad conclusion for the platform, which never managed to reach the million subscribers announced, and whose future was undoubtedly sealed last September with the failure of the TF1-M6 merger.
At the end of 2022, Salto still employed 70 employees and around thirty in-house service providers.
