Ruiz’s powerful punches pushed Ortiz 3 times, but never managed to knock him out (video)
Andy Ruiz defeated Luis Ortiz after 12 tough rounds at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. The Mexican left with the victory after a judge’s decision (114:111, 114:111, 113:112).
Ruiz knocked the ten-year-older Ortiz down three times during the fight, but his powerful punches never managed to knock out the veteran.
The win was the 35th of the 32-year-old Ruiz’s career, 22 of which have come by KO.

The Mexican hadn’t fought in over a year. His last fight was on May 1, 2021 when he defeated Cristóbal Arreola, again after 12 rounds and a decision.
For the 43-year-old King Kong, it was the third loss (33-3-2) in his career and the first after a decision. The previous two came after knockouts, both inflicted by Deontay Wilder.
