Slavia’s backup team defeated Levski-Rakovski 4-1 in a match of the sixth round of the South-West Third League. The match will be remembered for the incredible display of sportsmanship in the 65th minute of the head coach of the “Whites” Ivan Ivanov, who helped the young referee of the match, who awarded a penalty to the home team for an offense outside the penalty area, telling him that he was wrong.
The management of the guests thanked Slavia for the perfect organization, attitude and honesty:
“The FC Levski-Rakovski team has the honor to officially thank FC Slavia for the perfect organization and respectful attitude before, during and after yesterday’s match, which ended in a loss for our team!!
We were most impressed by the honesty of the FC Slavia coach throughout, especially at the moment when the referee blew a penalty for the hosts with the score 1:1 (with one man less) and Ivan Ivanov showed the young referee that the foul was outside the penalty area field!! This is an unprecedented European reaction worthy of admiration!! This is how young people are brought up in a dignified, sportsmanlike spirit!! To our disappointment, a little later they deservedly beat us 4:1.
We most sincerely and wholeheartedly wish Ivan Ivanov and his team success in the next match of the Youth Champions League!!
The team of FC “Levski-Rakovski”.
