The first Buds Pro from OnePlus, presented as “high end killers”, had not frankly managed to convince us. For this second iteration, the Chinese firm seems to have pulled out all the stops by joining forces with Dynaudio, a Danish manufacturer of loudspeakers and hi-fi speakers. A partnership that is reminiscent of the existing one between Huawei and Devialet on the FreeBuds Pro 2.

Big sound promises

Rich, natural sound”, “pure harmony”, “best-in-class audio quality”: OnePlus is not going with the back of the spoon to praise the performance of its next Buds Pro 2. These would be equipped with a dual speaker structure: one 11 mm dedicated to bass reproduction and a 6mm high frequency one.

In addition to having participated in the development of the acoustic architecture of the headphones, Dynaudio also took care of the sound processing and designed different presets equalization, a manual equalizer also accompanying these Buds Pro 2. In addition, the headphones would be compatible with the LHDC Bluetooth codec allowing them to obtain the holy Hi-Res certification. They would also be Bluetooth 5.3 compatible and therefore ready for the new LE Audio technologies.

Solid features

In addition to promising mountains and wonders on the audio part, the Buds Pro 2 have active noise reduction which would be able to achieve an attenuation of 48 dB! A pharaminous score which would place them well ahead of the current tenors of the market (Apple AirPods Pro 2, Sony WF-1000XM4, Devialet Gemini…) which painfully reach 30 dB of attenuation. We therefore have serious doubts on this subject.

Like their predecessors, the Buds Pro 2 would offer flawless comfort, in particular thanks to their featherweight of 4.9 g per earphone. A low latency mode would also be on the program and would make it possible to reach 54 ms of latency. Certified IP55, the headphones would have an autonomy varying from 6 to 9 hours depending on whether or not the noise reduction is activated.

The Buds Pro 2 are currently available in China for 899 yuan. The Chinese firm gives us an appointment on February 7, during the OnePlus Cloud 11 event, to reveal more fully these Buds Pro 2 and indicate a release date and a price for France.
