On the final straight: Manchester United have settled the transfer of Antony – Football World – Other

Young Ajax star Antony is increasingly confident he will complete his move to Manchester United this week, according to the Daily Mail. Meanwhile, The Athletic’s David Ornstein reports that the same mood prevails in the Red Devils camp.

The 22-year-old Brazilian has been in excellent form at Ajax, contributing 24 goals and 22 assists. Dutch publication De Telegraaf also claim that United have submitted a €90m offer for the player and have already agreed personal terms, with Antony set to sign a five-year contract until the summer of 2027.

The player is believed to have handed in a transfer request as he is keen to reunite with Erik ten Hag, who mentored him at the Johan Cruyff Arena, and has even started looking for a house in Cheshire.

Antony’s arrival should spark a transfer frenzy that could see Hakim Ziyech return to Ajax from Chelsea. The Brazilian’s arrival at Old Trafford is also expected to send Anthony Elanga on loan to Everton, while his Red Devils team-mate James Garner could also follow, but on a permanent deal.

So far Man United have signed Lisandro Martinez (Ajax) for £48.3m, Tyrell Malacia (Feyenoord) for £12.9m and Casemiro for £60m. Christian Eriksen arrived at Old Trafford as a free agent. This means that for another summer, the English will take out more than 200 million for transfers after the attraction of Antoni.
