Official start of production of the Nissan Qashqai e-Power and Juke Hybrid

With 5 million copies sold for each model, the Nissan Qashqai and Juke have been real bestsellers since their first generation, within the Japanese brand.

Manufactured and produced in the Nissan plant in Sunderland, UK, the Nissan Qashqai and Juke now welcome their electrified versions, namely the e-Power for the first and the hybrid for the second. Thus, the latter will rub shoulders with the Leaf, the only electric vehicle in the range… before the upcoming arrival of the Ariya SUV.

The creation of these two new lines had been the subject of a total investment of 558 million euros. In particular, it includes a unit dedicated to the manufacture of batteries – worth 11 million euros – necessary for e-Power and hybrid engines.

In addition, since Leaf production began in 2011, staff at the Sunderland plant have completed nearly two million hours of training.”devoted to the manufacture of electrified vehicles“.

This progressive electrification of Sunderland is part of the EV36Zero project, “a flagship electric vehicle manufacturing ecosystem (…) bringing together electric vehicles, renewable energies and battery production“. The cost of this overall investment amounts to 1.117 billion euros.
