Real Madrid and France star Karim Benzema will miss the World Cup in Qatar after picking up an injury in training. The news was officially announced on Twitter by the French team. The Real Madrid striker has been diagnosed with a muscle injury in his left thigh.
“After suffering a quadriceps injury in his left thigh, Karim Benzema has been forced to withdraw from the World Cup. The whole team shares Karim’s grief and wishes him a speedy recovery,” the French national team tweeted.

It is another blow to France’s ambitions to defend their World Cup title won in Russia 2018, as N’Golo Kante, Presnel Kimpembe, Paul Pogba, Christopher Nkunku and Wesley Fofana will also miss the World Cup due to various injuries.
Karim Benzema has been in great form, he also won the Ballon d’Or just over a month ago. The striker has 5 goals in 7 games this season in La Liga with the Real Madrid team.
