Rumors about the launch of Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 4070 are more and more insistent, so much so that we now know all the details of its release.
As for the graphics card itself, it would keep the memory part of the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti with its 12 GB of GDDR6x and its 192-bit memory bus. On the other hand, the GPU would be amputated by 23% of its CUDA units and its operating frequencies would be slightly reduced (-16%) in order to obtain a total consumption of around 200 watts.
Thus configured, the GeForce RTX 4070 should position itself in terms of performance between a GeForce RTX 3080 and a GeForce RTX 3080 Ti.
A two-step launch
Nvidia is aiming for a two-stage launch, with an announcement and first tests on April 12. However, the tests would only concern the graphics cards of the partners and possibly the Founders Edition version respecting the minimum sale price set by Nvidia (namely $749). The next day, we would be entitled to the tests of the cards sold above $799.
A way for Nvidia to ensure that the first tests will focus on the fairest possible performance / price ratio, especially when we know that this model is sold only $ 50 less than the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti. Eventually, we should see GeForce RTX 4070s customized by partners exceed the price of the most affordable GeForce RTX 4070 Ti.
