I will honor my grandmother’s memory by supporting my father, the King, in any way possible
The Royal Family has released an emotional letter from Prince William on the death of Queen Elizabeth II. The funeral will be on September 19.
“On Thursday the world lost an extraordinary leader whose commitment to country, kingdoms and the British community was all-encompassing. So much will be said in the coming days about the significance of her historic reign.
However, I lost my grandmother. And while I mourn her loss, I also feel extremely grateful. I had the opportunity to be close to the Queen’s wisdom and confidence.
For 20 years my wife received my grandmother’s guidance and support. My three children spent the holidays with her and made lifelong memories. She was by my side in my happiest days. And she was by my side in the saddest days of my life.
I knew this day would come, but it would be a while before I realized the reality of life without Grandma.
I thank her for the kindness she showed to my family and me. And I thank her on behalf of my generation for setting an example of service and dignity in public life that was of a different era but always relevant to us all.
My grandmother taught me that sorrow is the price we pay for love. All the sadness we will experience in the coming weeks will be a testament to the love we feel for our extraordinary queen.
I will honor her memory by supporting my father, the King, in every way possible.”
