Motorola is preparing to unveil new products and will hold a special event on December 15 in China for the occasion. The firm did not hide it, because it even posted a message accompanied by a visual on the Chinese social network Weibo.

On the latter, we can see two smartphones placed next to each other. They seem identical, but we can however observe that the one on the left has a central punch which houses a photo sensor. Everything therefore seems to indicate that it is the Moto X40 (or Edge 40 Pro according to the nomenclature adopted with us), especially since a model equipped with a sensor under the screen would also be planned. The Moto X30 was also unveiled at a similar time last year.

The brand has not communicated official information on the product, but the visuals and part of the technical sheet of the device have already appeared on the site of the Chinese smartphone certification body (TENAA). The famous leaker OnLeaks (in partnership with the site MySMartPrice) also had a great time sharing video renderings.

An ambitious technical sheet

The mobile, which bears the code name XT2301-5, would be equipped with a 6.67-inch Full HD Oled screen whose edges are slightly curved and reminiscent of certain models of the Edge series. It should benefit from a refresh rate of 144 Hz and logically accommodates the fingerprint sensor.

Under the latter, Motorola has chosen a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, which is Qualcomm’s most powerful SoC, as the brand confirmed when the chip was announced. It could rely on 8, 12 or 18 GB of RAM and 128 to 512 GB of storage depending on the version.

In photos, we should be entitled to a main sensor of 50 megapixels accompanied by an ultra wide-angle of 50 megapixels as well. The third sensor, 12 megapixels, would be a telephoto module with X2 optical zoom.

Everything would be powered by a 5000 mAh battery compatible with fast charging at 125 W. Enough to refuel very quickly. The set would work under Android 13 and the slight overlay of Motorola.
