Cristiano Ronaldo is now free to look for a new club after Manchester United terminated his contract by mutual consent on Tuesday following a controversial interview with journalist Piers Morgan in which the Portuguese slammed the club’s owners, manager and management.
Marca claim that one of his possible destinations is Saudi Arabia’s Al-Nasser, although the local league is far from the competitive level Cristiano Ronaldo is used to. Last summer, he already received an offer from the same side, and the striker admitted about it in his interview last week.
The offer was worth €242 million over two seasons. However, the Portuguese rejected it due to his desire to continue in the fight for major titles and his aim to further increase his goalscoring tally in the Champions League, something that Manchester United could not offer him.
The European giants turned their backs on him after the likes of Chelsea, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Napoli turned down the chance to sign him. Reasons for this are thought to be the hefty salary Ronaldo demands, as well as clubs not wanting to risk adding such a big presence in the dressing room mid-season.
Al-Nasser’s owner, Prince Faisal Bin Turki, has a serious interest in Ronaldo. The new proposal is believed to be close to that of last summer. Now the circumstances are different and it is no wonder that the Portuguese would undertake such a challenge.
