McLaren boss and Ricciardo team-mate with harsh words about his sacking

The head of “McLaren” in Formula 1 Zac Brown expressed the opinion that he should not have signed such a contract with Daniel Ricciardo.

The Aussie driver will be released after the season and will take a $24 million severance package as his contract expires.

The decision was made because of the poor performance of Ricardo, who is 12th in the general classification with an asset of 19 points. His best performance of the season was sixth place in his home Grand Prix. In nine of the 13 races he finished outside the top ten.

Such weak results were not expected given the not bad car of McLaren and the good performance of his teammate Lando Oris, who was on the podium four times during the season. In addition, 33-year-old Ricciardo built a solid reputation during his stints at Red Bull and Renault.

“What we learned as a lesson is about the contracts. As for his driving skills there was nothing different to do. Now I think what could have been done to make Ricciardo more competitive. We tried everything.

We had to end our relationship early and write him a big check, which is normal because of the contract. I think in the future we’re going to play it safe when it comes to pilot performance. We won’t count on a good pilot to stay that way. We learned that as a lesson,” Brown explained.

Meanwhile, Lando Norris surprisingly said that he does not sympathize with his teammate for his dismissal and has no sympathy for him.

“I want to focus on my riding. It’s not my job to discuss or coach someone else. I’m not here to do that,” said the Brit.
