Marilyn Monroe’s ‘Blonde’ Receives Most Golden Raspberry Nominations

The biographical film “Blonde” with the actress Ana de Armas in the role of Marilyn Monroe received the most nominations – eight, for the “Golden Raspberry” anti-awards, the BBC reported.

With seven nominations follows the comedy “Good Mourning”, directed, written and performed by rappers and singers Machine Gun Kelly and Maude Sun. The feature version of Disney’s classic animation “Pinocchio” has six.

The three productions are nominated in the worst picture category along with Morbius and The King’s Daughter.

Organizers of the anti-Golden Raspberry Awards describe Blonde as a film that “cinema fans like even less than critics”. Its creator, Andrew Dominik, is nominated for worst director.

Dominique will contest the anti-distinction in the director category with Judd Apatow for “The Balloon”, which also stars Oscar-nominated Bulgarian actress Maria Bakalova, Colson Baker (Machine Gun Kelly) and Maud Sun for “Good Mourning”. Daniel Espinosa for Morbius and Robert Zemeckis for Disney’s Pinocchio.

Among the nominees in the acting categories is two-time Oscar winner Tom Hanks. Hanks has three nominations – for worst actor for “Disney’s Pinocchio” and for worst actor in a supporting role for his portrayal of manager Colonel Parker in the biopic “Elvis”. His third nomination is in the worst screen couple category and is for his latex-filled face and ridiculous accent.

Tom Hanks isn’t the only beloved and lauded actor in the running for a Golden Raspberry. Previous recipients of the anti-honor include stars of the caliber of Leonardo DiCaprio, Eddie Redmayne, Ben Affleck, Halle Berry, Sandra Bullock, and screen legends such as Laurence Olivier, Marlon Brando and Al Pacino.

Elvis itself, directed by Baz Luhrmann, has received rave reviews from critics and recently received nine nominations at Britain’s leading film awards, the BAFTAs. Lead actor Austin Butler recently won the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Motion Picture Drama for his portrayal of the King of Rock.

Jared Leto, who won a Golden Raspberry for worst supporting actor for The House of Gucci last year, will compete in the worst actor category for Morbius this year.

In addition to Leto for “Morbius” and Tom Hanks for “Disney’s Pinocchio”, the other Golden Raspberry contenders for worst actor are Colson Baker (Machine Gun Kelly) for “Good Mourning”, Pete Davidson for ” Marmaduke” and Sylvester Stallone for “Samaritan”.

Organizers of the Golden Raspberry Awards, which call their awards “the ugly cousin of the Oscars,” will announce their winners on March 11, the day before the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences hands out its statuettes.

The “Golden Raspberry” anti-awards were established in 1980 as an antidote to the Hollywood awards season, BTA recalls. Nominees and winners are chosen by the foundation’s roughly 1,100 members from the United States and 19 other countries, who register online and pay a $40 membership fee. The figurine is a plastic raspberry with a gold coating, the value of which does not exceed five dollars.
