Ludogorets realized another strong outgoing transfer. The 11-time champion of Bulgaria sold striker Pieros Sotiriou to the Japanese elite Sanfrecce Hiroshima, reports the website of the “eagles”. Negotiations over the deal were finalized a week ago, with the Cypriot goalscorer successfully passing his medical and fitness tests and signing his contract today.
“I had a great time at Ludogorets. I leave a lot of friends in the team. I will support the boys in every match,” said Japan’s Piros Sotiriou, minutes after being introduced as a Sanfrecce Hiroshima player. Sotiriu came to Ludogorets in February 2021 from Astana (Kazakhstan).
Before that, the goalkeeper had played for Copenhagen, APOEL (Nicosia), Olympiakos (Nicosia), as well as for all formations of the national team of Cyprus. With the Ludogorets team, the striker played a series of strong matches in the efbet League and European club tournaments, scoring 29 goals in 62 matches. Pieros became the league’s top scorer for the 2021/22 season. Due to his excellent performance in the green shirt, he attracted the interest of quite a few foreign clubs.
The strong outgoing transfer of Pieros Sotiriou is the second for Ludogorets within a month. At the end of July, the Eagles sold Alex Santana to Atlético (Paranense), who participated in the Copa Libertadores.
