The best Bulgarian referee Georgi Kabakov will officiate the match of the last 6th round of the Europa League tournament in Group E between Real Sociedad and Manchester United. The match is at the Donostia San Sebastian (Anoeta) Stadium at 19:45 on Thursday, November 3rd.
Both teams have qualified for the next phase of the tournament, but this match will determine who will be first and who will be second in the standings. At the moment, Real Sociedad has a total asset of 15 points, while the Red Devils have 12. As is known, the group leaders skip a round and go straight to the round of 16 in the tournament, while the 2nd teams play a playoff with the 3rd in the Champions League league.
Kabakov’s assistants will also be his regular assistants: Martin Margaritov and Diyan Valkov on the sidelines with the wings, and Ivaylo Stoyanov is the fourth referee.
The main VAR referee is Marko Fritz (Germany), and the assistant with the video replay system is Tomasz Kwiatkowski (Poland).
The UEFA delegate is Rudolph Mannerts (Belgium), and the referee observer is Mehmet Ilgaz (Turkey).
For Georgi Kabakov, this is the second match in his career with the participation of Manchester United, which he will lead. In 2018, he made his Champions League debut in the match between Valencia and United in the last round of the then group stage. Interestingly, this was the last match before UEFA decided to introduce the VAR system. This happens on December 12, 2018 and Kabakov shows four yellow cards, and the result is 2:1 for the hosts from Valencia.
