‘It’s weird’: Why Emilia Clarke won’t watch ‘Home of the Dragon’

“House of the Dragon” broke ratings records, but among the millions of viewers of the “Game of Thrones” spinoff is not Emilia Clarke.

The actress who played Daenerys Targaryen does not want to watch the story of her character’s ancestors, she herself explained to Variety.

House of the Dragon takes the story back nearly 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones and House Targaryen’s rule over Westeros.

“I just can’t. It’s so weird. Can you forgive me?” Clarke says when asked if she’s seen the series.

“It’s strange – as if someone says to you: “Do you want to go to the class reunion, but not to your graduation?” That’s the feeling and I avoid watching,” added the actress, who is most popular precisely for her role in “Game on thrones”. However, she added that she was happy about the success of “The Dragon’s Home”.

Her portrayal of Daenerys Targaryen also earned her four Emmy nominations and three Critics’ Choice Awards.

The prequel itself recently won a Golden Globe for Best Drama Series, and the first episode broke HBO’s record for primetime viewership with 9.9 million viewers.

Kit Harington, who played Jon Snow in Game of Thrones, said he could experience a similar feeling.

Even before the appearance of the spinoff, he explained to the Associated Press that it will be a little painful and emotional for him.

“Watching people wearing costumes that remind us of the ones we’ve been wearing all these years, with the same music and style, but not being a part of it will always be something you feel a little bit of,” he explained. before “Insider”.

Unlike Clark, however, Harington is watching Home of the Dragon – both out of curiosity and because of executive producer Miguel Sapocnik, with whom they are friends.

On the Happy Sad Confused podcast, the actor explained that he was “palpably scared” but felt both emotional and weird about not being part of the tape. “But after watching it, I was like, ‘This is something different, a different show, with different people,'” Harington explained.

George R.R. Martin: "The home of the dragon" needs 4 seasons of 10 episodes each

According to him, the team has done a great job and the series is great.

However, Sapochnik announced that he is withdrawing from the project and will not be part of the second season of “The Dragon’s House”, which is expected next year.

The latest film with the participation of Emilia Clarke is the one presented these days at the Sundance festival, The Pod Genegation, about a couple trying to have a child with the help of an artificial womb.
