“I swear on my children! I tried to kill Gary Neville”

“I almost killed Gary Neville, I’m not kidding. Sir Alex had to stop training because of this incident,” former Manchester United player Patrice Evra said on social networks.

In a tussle for the ball, Neville’s foot slipped on the ball and kicked the Frenchman, who fell to the ground.

“I looked at him and said, ‘Gary, aren’t you going to apologize?’ I touched my leg where he’d kicked me, nodded and continued.

At one point I see a ball flying towards him – at the level of his chest. I swear to my children – I ran and jumped with both feet into his chest. I taped both my feet! He almost did a backflip and almost broke his neck in the fall.

I remember Rooney coming over and shouting, “What are you doing? Are you crazy?” And I: “Next time it’s called ‘sorry'” Everyone attacked me, and Ferguson was like: “Enough, enough! Everyone in the locker room!”

Then, on the massage table, I’m rubbing ice on my spot and here comes the rabid Rooney, Giggsy and the rest. Finally, Gary Neville also appears: “Who the hell do you think you are?”. And I kept insisting: “Gary, next time just say ‘sorry’. I love Neville by the way – he’s such a good guy and was such a great captain.”

With the Manchester United team, Patrice Evra won the English Premier League five times, the Football League Cup three times, the Champions League and the Club World Cup.
