Head to head comparison: Dyson V8 Absolute vs Tineco Pure One S12 Pro Ex

Is it still necessary to introduce the Dyson V8 Absolute stick vacuum? This colorful device is undoubtedly the best representation of a model in stick format; the motor, the waste container and the filtration system are placed near the user’s wrist so that the vacuum cleaner can be easily oriented in all directions (equipped with its suction tube, or not) to reach the most difficult corners inaccessible. The Tineco Pure One S12 Pro Ex is one of its many descendants and it adopts a similar architecture. In either case, you will therefore need a drill, dowels and screws to install the wall-mounted storage base, which is also used for charging.

But the similarities end there. Indeed, if the Dyson V8 is very basic, the Tineco Pure One S12 Pro Ex relies more on extreme sophistication, to the point of offering a connection to a smartphone. This option is certainly optional, but it is rather well implemented and it allows you to easily monitor the saturation level of the filters, among others.

The screen displays a lot of information.

Another advantage of the Pure One S12 Pro Ex, its particle counter is used to automatically modulate the suction power according to the waste collected and it also indicates to the user if the floor is dusted, thanks to a circle which changes from red to blue when the surface is clean. Again, we can very well do without this last feature, but this help is welcome. Finally, only the manual power selection system using a sensitive strip will have left us unmoved; this method is quite impractical and simple physical keys or a selector – like that of the Dyson V8 by the way – are much less complicated to use.

Much less sophisticated, a latch near the trigger of the Tineco allows the user to choose between continuous suction – more comfortable for the wrist, but more energy-consuming – and fractional suction which stops the device as soon as the handle is released, when you have to move a trinket or a piece of furniture, for example. The more limited Dyson V8 Absolute only works with the latter method.

Still in terms of autonomy, the Pure One S12 Pro Ex gives an estimate of it as a percentage. On the Dyson, you have to make do with a trio of diodes, which are much less precise and which therefore prevent you from effectively planning your cleaning session.

The diode system lacks precision.

The Dyson V8 Absolute comes with plenty of accessories; motorized brush with hard bristles, motorized Fluffy brush, textile brush, crevice tool and electric minibrush. But the Pure One S12 Pro Ex does not really have to be ashamed since the box contains the same appendages, to which are added an additional battery, a soft brush, a crevice tool with brush, an angled tube, a flexible tube, and a tool for cleaning the foam filter.

Better armed and equipped with well-used technologies, the Tineco Pure One S12 Pro Ex wins its first point without any possible challenge.
