Levski signed the Nigerian international Abdullahi Shehu, the club announced. The 29-year-old footballer arrived today in Sofia, after which he underwent medical examinations and signed a contract until the end of the season with the “blues”.
Shehu joins Gerena as a free agent and most recently played for Cypriot giants Omonia Nicosia. He plays in three positions – defensive midfielder, center back and right back.
Abdullahi Shehu is part of the Nigerian national team, having 41 matches for the representative team of the African country. He is part of the team that won the bronze medals at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro in 2016. The midfielder also recorded 4 caps for the U20 national team and 2 caps for the U21 national team.
Shehu was born on March 12, 1993 in Sokoto (Nigeria). He started his professional career in 2012 in the local Kano Pillars. In the summer of 2014, he moved to the Kuwaiti Al Qadisiya, playing 7 matches and scoring 1 goal. A year later, he became part of the Portuguese Uniao Madeira, with whose team he recorded 30 matches and scored 1 goal. Since the summer of 2016, he has been owned by the Cypriot Anorthosis, playing 56 games with 4 goals. At the beginning of 2018, he moved to the Turkish Bursaspor, recording 60 matches with 5 goals. In the summer of 2020, he returned to Cyprus, dressing the team of the great Omonia Nicosia. He played 68 games for the “Clovers” and became the champion of Cyprus in 2021. In the same year, he also won the Super Cup of the country, last season he also won the Cup of Cyprus.
