Valencia coach Gennaro Gattuso has admitted his club has financial problems, while surprisingly, in the same La Liga, Barcelona are buying players “they can’t afford”.
Before the start of the new season, the Italian coach spoke at a press conference at the Mestalla club stadium about the differences between Spanish and Italian football, and what will happen in the 2022/23 season.
“It is a difficult championship, Real, Barcelona and Atlético are ahead of everyone else. They have one thing in common, they play with the ball. Here in Spain, the ball is the priority, not physical strength or running. The difference with Italy is big, because there, at the junior level, more attention is paid to physical strength, and here the children grow up with the ball as their main goal,” commented Gattuso.

“As kids we used to play 10-12 hours in the street, now kids don’t want to play more than 7-8 hours a week, including the matches,” added the one-time midfielder.
“Valencia is a big club, but with financial problems. In many clubs this is a daily routine. I like to study, I went to Scotland when I was young and then I also worked in Greece, Spain and Switzerland,” continued Gattuso.
“We strengthened with Samu Castillejo, Nico and Lino. We lost Gonzalo Guedes and I hope we can find his replacement. In Spain, there is precise financial control, but Barcelona buys players it cannot afford,” said the legend of Milan and the Italian national team.
