Fujinon XF 30mm F2.8 R LM WR Macro: a compact macro lens for Fujifilm hybrids

In parallel with its announcement of the X-T5 hybrid, Fujifilm, as the firm is used to, presents a new lens. This time it’s the Fujinon XF 30mm F2.8 R LM WR Macro, a small “truly” macro wide-angle lens with its 1:1 reproduction ratio.

This is the X mount’s third macro lens, after the XF 60mm F2.4 R Macro (despite its 1:2 reproduction ratio) and the XF 80mm F2.8 R LM WR Macro (almost four times as heavy than the newcomer). This 45 mm (in 24×36 equivalent) is indeed very light, with its 195 g and gains a minimum focusing distance from the focal point. This means that, mounted on an X-T4 or the new X-T5, it will be possible to focus at 1.2 cm from the front lens. Guaranteed effect.

Regarding the optical construction, the lens is based on an 11-element formula divided into nine groups, including three aspherical elements and two ED. The diaphragm has nine blades and the fixed focal length is quite compact with its 7 cm long and 6 cm in diameter. It also benefits from a weather-resistant construction.

Price and availability

The Fujinon XF 30mm F2.8 R LM WR Macro will be available from November 17, 2022 at a price of €699. It will therefore be sold at the same price as the 60 mm macro, but almost half the price of the imposing 80 mm, which is decidedly more upmarket.
