First Look at ‘Joker 2’

After the enviable success of 2019’s psychological thriller Joker, which grossed over $1 billion at the global box office, the big question was not if, but when, we’d see a sequel.

Earlier this year we had official confirmation of this, and now we have our first look at the sinister Arthur Fleck.

Director Todd Phillips revealed the first on-set image of the supervillain with an Instagram post titled “Day 1. Our Boy.”

The image shows the Joker shaving with his head thrown back. The villain’s body looks sickly and emaciated as he stares blankly at the ceiling.

In the lead role, we will again see the brilliant Joaquin Phoenix, who has stepped into the skin of one of the most iconic villains in cinema.

The focus of the film was on the Joker’s psyche, providing the backstory of his origin and his struggle with loneliness and mental issues against the backdrop of the brutal Gotham of the 1980s. “Joker” won the “Golden Lion” at the Venice Film Festival and received 11 nominations for the “Oscar”, of which it grabbed two statuettes – for music and for the main male role.

Many other details surrounding the upcoming band are still unclear. The name will surely be Joker: Folie à Deux, which also suggests where the story will go. Folie à Deux is the name of what is known in Bulgaria as induced delusional disorder – a rare disease in which two people with a strong emotional closeness develop similar psychotic symptoms.

No doubt it will be the Joker and his beloved Harley Quinn.

Margot Robbie has previously portrayed Quinn on the big screen in both the 2016 and 2021 Suicide Squad films, as well as 2020’s Birds of Prey. However, she will now relinquish her role to Lady Gaga, both confirmed stars.

“I’m happy because from the very beginning I wanted Harley Quinn to be one of those characters, like Macbeth or Batman, that is always passed from one great actor to another great actor,” Robbie told MTV News during a promotional event for the upcoming ” Joker.

The plot of the film is still kept under wraps. The only thing that is known about this is that it will be a musical. That is why the choice of the singer Lady Gaga for the main role after her success in “A Star Is Born” is logical.

Joker: Folie à Deux is scheduled to open on October 4, 2024.
