Fashion lessons: Kate Middleton as the epitome of British elegance in the US

After almost a decade since they were last in the United States, Britain’s Crown Prince William and his charming wife are back on American soil for their three-day visit on the occasion of the second annual Earthshot Awards, honoring environmental innovators, which will take place this Friday.

Yesterday evening, local time at least, after a nearly 8-hour flight over the ocean, the couple’s plane landed safely at Logan International Airport, located in Boston, which is the unofficial economic, cultural and educational center of New England. There, huddled in front of the exit, a host of photographers awaited them, capturing their appearance, which caused a powerful lightning storm that only royalty is capable of conjuring.

In the footage they took, which subsequently ended up all over the media there as an illustration to the news of their arrival, it can be seen that in the first moments of her visit, Kate decided to pay tribute to her husband’s late mother by wearing a pair of earrings that belonged to her in the past.

Lady Diana wore them more than once on various occasions, including during the reception hosted by Ronald Reagan at the White House in 1985, when her famous dance with John Travolta took place. Then she paired them with a majestic seven-row necklace of pearls, in the center of which stood a huge sapphire surrounded by diamonds, which were actually the stones present in the earrings themselves. She also wore the jewels for the famous charity ball “Met Gala” in 1996, traditionally held in New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art.

The current Princess of Wales has worn the jewelery in question on other occasions, such as at this year’s Trooping the Color parade on the Island. Over the years, she has stepped into the spotlight more than once with jewels from her mother-in-law’s personal collection, such as the tiara that made her the center of attention at Queen Elizabeth II’s banquet for former President Donald Trump at Buckingham Palace. Now she had chosen to complement them with her extremely stylish suit in a dark color, the work of one of her favorite designers, Alexander McQueen. The outfit was made up of two pieces, namely a jacket with wide lapels and high-waisted trousers, the cut of which accentuated her slender figure, which in no way gave away that she was a mother of three. Middleton accessorized with a soft polo shirt in the same color scheme as her suede high heels, completing her elegant look. Her best accessory, however, was her beaming smile, which she usually doesn’t part with, no matter where she is.

A little later, Prince William published a statement on social networks, in which he wrote that he and his partner were happy to return to this part of the world.

This is our first overseas visit since my grandmother’s death, and I would like to thank the people of Massachusetts for their tribute to her. She remembered her visit here in 1976 with great fondness“, his words read. “My grandmother was an optimist, as I am. That’s why we launched the Earthshot Award last year with the ambition to create a global platform to inspire hope and optimism in our quest to save the future of our planet. Thanks to the people of Boston. I am so grateful to you for allowing us to hold this momentous event in your great city. Catherine and I look forward to meeting many of you in the coming days“, concludes the aristocrat.

The couple then proceeded to City Hall, where they were formally welcomed by Mayor Michelle Wu and Governor-elect Maura Healy. On her way to the administration building, however, Kate made a quick stop to change, swapping the clothes she landed in in the Massachusetts capital for a chic dark green tartan dress by Burberry, over which she layered a woolen coat. labeled “Alexander McQueen” of course. She completed her look with a matching Mulberry handbag, Shyla London pearl earrings and matching heels. At the end of their meeting with the mayor, the four turned on the green lights that will illuminate all Boston landmarks in the coming days, marking the upcoming honors.

The last engagement of the Prince and Princess of Wales was the visit to a basketball game of the regular round of the National Basketball Association of the USA and Canada, held in the arena “TD Garden”, during which the players of the “Boston Celtics” and “Miami Heat” competed. Watching from the front row as the competition ended in victory for the hosts, Middleton taught another lesson in fashion, demonstrating an enviable sense of style. She followed the sports meeting in a blue retro tweed jacket with a double-breasted fastening of the brand “Chanel”, which appeared on the market in the already distant year 1995. Her look was completed with black pants and suede Gianvito Rossi heels. For added glam, Kate accessorized with gold jewelry, including a pair of Shyla London earrings, as well as a chunky gold Laura Lombardi necklace that graced her cleavage.
