Djokovic took the stage and disappointed the World Team

Team Europe cruised to a fifth straight victory over Team World in what has become a traditional Laver Cup demonstration tennis tournament.

After retiring Roger Federer and his doubles partner Rafael Nadal stole the show on Friday, it was time for Novak Djokovic to take the stage on Saturday.

In the evening session, Nole had to play two matches in a row – first in singles, and then in tandem with Matteo Berettini. These were the first matches for the Serbian since the beginning of July, when he triumphed at Wimbledon, and he won them decisively.

The day began with a match between the Italian Berretini and the Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassim, which was also the most contested. The victory went to Mateo with a final long tiebreak – 7:6(11), 4:6, 10:7.

The Sveta team took revenge through the American Taylor Fritz, who in the second singles match overcame the reserve and representative of the home team, Cameron Norrie. The highest-ranked British tennis player replaced Rafael Nadal, but lost 1:6, 6:4, 8:10, and a final tiebreak was played here as well.

In the third singles match, Djokovic took the stage for a match against US Open semi-finalist Frances Tiafoe. Nole won decisively with 6:1, 6:3, although the American did not show bad tennis.

The epilogue of the evening was the doubles match in which Djokovic and Berretini played against Australian Alex de Minor and American Jack Sock. The victory for the European team was convincing – 7:5, 6:2.

Thus, before the last day of the competition, Team Europe leads with 8:4 points and will almost certainly triumph in the fifth edition in a row.
