Deschamps: I will coach France for the 1/2-final and then we will see – Football world – World Cup

France national team coach Didier Deschamps said small details and a bit of luck decided the game in France’s 2-1 victory over England in the quarter-finals of the World Cup.

In the semi-finals, the world champions will meet Morocco.

The coach’s contract expires at the end of the tournament, but the president of the French Football Federation, Noel Le Gre, expressed hope that he will remain in charge of the team.

“England have a very good team and what they showed in terms of technical ability and intensity was impressive. I also give credit to my team, we also showed some very good things. We have great quality and impressive mental resilience. We have experience but the same goes and for England, they have some young players who, however, play for big clubs in Europe,” commented Deschamps at the post-match press conference.

“It all comes down to small details and luckily tonight it went right. Sometimes you need a bit of luck. They have quality in all areas of the pitch. There were some things we could have done better but maybe the opponent didn’t allowed us to do them well. We still scored two goals and created a few chances. We deserved to win,” Deschamps added.

“I will coach the semi-final and then we will see. We will deal with this after the tournament. It is great that the president is happy, I am sure there are many people who are happy tonight. Just four years after our World Cup title championship, we’re in the top four again. Let’s focus on Wednesday’s game, I’m not thinking about anything else at the moment,” Deschamps added.
