Conte on the Tuchel incident: I respond to aggression with aggression – Football World – England

Chelsea and Tottenham managers Thomas Tuchel and Antonio Conte made no secret of the fact that there was tension between the two after they clashed at the end of the meeting between the two teams and received red cards. However, they emphasized that too much importance should not be attached to the incident.

The London rivals drew 2-2 at Stamford Bridge, with Spurs going level with a 96th-minute goal from Harry Kane and the two managers wildly celebrating their teams’ goals in front of each other. After the final whistle, Tuchel did not let go of his opponent’s hand and demanded that he look him in the eyes, and Conte’s response was quite aggressive.

“It’s true that I wasn’t calm when I see aggression, I respond with aggression. But that’s not a problem and it’s not the most important thing. It was a great match between two teams at a high level and it was important for us to get a point.” commented Conte. “I think we even liked what happened. Next time we will be more careful or we won’t shake hands and the problem is solved,” added the Italian.

For his part, Tuchel jokingly rolled up his sleeves and showed off his muscles to journalists at the post-match press conference. “I think we both enjoyed it, nothing bad happened. It’s like two players having a fight on the field, but nothing happened, nobody got hurt. We both fought for our teams. Nobody is was insulted or hurt, we didn’t fight with fists. Things got heated but that’s part of the game,” said Tuchel, who added that both Tottenham’s goals should have been disallowed.
