Clash of two giants in European football – World Football – Spain

Barcelona and Manchester City will meet in a charity clash tonight at 10.30pm. Proceeds from the Camp Nou match will go to the fight against amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. It’s rare for top clubs to interrupt their season for a friendly, but Javi Hernandez and Pep Guardiola’s sides have agreed to play this game for a noble cause.

Barcelona beat Real Sociedad 4-1 in the second round of La Liga, while Manchester City stumbled against Newcastle but managed to draw 3-3. The big problem for the Spanish team is that they still can’t register their new signing Jules Cunde.

The match was organized in an attempt by the teams to help research into the insidious disease, which also afflicts Guardiola’s former assistant at Barcelona. The two worked together between 2007-2010.

The last time the two teams met was in November 2016 in a match from the group stage of the Champions League, the winner then being the English team.

In this special match, which will see Pep Guardiola return to Camp Nou, all ticket proceeds will be donated to a foundation fighting ALS.
