Chicago drives Stanislav Ivanov – Football world – Legionnaires

The US Major League Soccer (MLS) team Chicago Fire will try to sell Bulgarian footballer Stanislav Ivanov in January, reports hottimeinoldtown.com.

The 23-year-old former youth international Ivanov will be left without special protection for selection in the expansion draft by new league club St. Louis City, which on Friday will fill its roster with players from other teams in the league.

“The Bulgarian winger rarely plays for the Fire and is a huge transfer mistake. He will most likely be sold in January, and he will certainly not be among the protected players for selection in the expansion draft,” commented the publication.

Founded three years ago, St. Louis City enters the MLS for the new season next spring and will now be able to assemble a lineup of players from other clubs for compensation, but only from a list that includes pre-announced unprotected players.

Ivanov was signed by Levski for 300 thousand euros in December 2020. He has a contract with Chicago until the end of 2023 with a club option for one additional season. The Bulgarian recorded 921 playing minutes in 16 official matches with 1 goal, but was more often a substitute or not included in the group, also missing some games due to injury.
