Celtic fans launch new attack on royals (VIDEO) – World Football

Celtic supporters are notorious for their not-so-good feelings towards Britain’s monarchy. While fans of arch-rivals Glasgow Rangers did a whole choreography to honor Queen Elizabeth II, who died last week, those of the “Clovers” did the exact opposite.

In the game against St. Mirren, in which Celtic suffered their first league defeat in a year, the team’s fans raised banners against the royal family.

They read: “If you hate the royal family, clap your hands.” They raised it during the minute’s silence in memory of Queen Elizabeth II, which was accompanied by applause from the entire stadium.

The team’s head coach Ange Postecoglou refused to comment on the case, saying only: “I understand why there is interest, but I am the manager of a football club and I sit in press conferences to talk about football.”

In this week’s match against Shakhtar Donetsk, fans of the Scottish giants once again expressed their disapproval of the Crown with posters as the club face disciplinary proceedings from UEFA.
