Canal+ no longer broadcasts TF1 Group channels on MyCanal

BRIEF // Canal+ no longer broadcasts the channels of the TF1 Group, which would require far too large a sum in the opinion of the encrypted channel. This method had already been applied by Molotov a few months ago.

Last January, the TF1 Group channels disappeared from Molotov. Reason invoked, the astronomical sums requested by the chain of the Bouygues Group. Nine months later, rebelote, but with a group of another scale: Canal+. Renowned for its intransigence in negotiations, which has played tricks on it in the past, the encrypted channel announced to its subscribers the outright cessation of the distribution of the channels of the TF1 group on its MyCanal platform and its decoders.

“As part of the renewal of the distribution contract for its channels by the Canal+ Group, the TF1 Group has expressed its desire to fundamentally review its commercial requirements as of August 31, 2022”writes Canal + in its press release. “With its dominant position“, the first string would require “the payment of very high remuneration for its free DTT channels: TF1, TMC, TFX, TF1 Séries Films and LCI”. Requests judged “unfounded and unreasonable” by the group owned by Vivendi, which would justify the removal of these five channels.

Les Numériques is a media of the Unify group, owned by TF1.
