Brentford beat Manchester City 2-1 in a Premier League Round of 16 match. The goal for the “citizens” was the work of Phil Foden, and Ivan Toney scored two goals for the “bees”. With this victory, Brentford is now 10th with an asset of 19 points, while Manchester City remains second with 32 points on its account.
The first chance of the game came in the third minute when Frank Onyeka was brought alone against Ederson, but the Manchester City keeper made a great save. Just three minutes later, Brentford had another chance to take the lead after Toni conceded from the penalty spot, but the Brazilian keeper from the Citizens again reacted beautifully.
In the 16th minute, Ivan Toni received a pass in the penalty area, and after Aymeric Laporte’s clumsy performance, the ball hit the head of the English striker and flew into Ederson’s net, and the “bees” took the lead.

In the 71st minute, Brentford’s Rico Henry broke into the box and crossed to Ivan Toney, who was in an empty net, but Aymeric Laporte made a brilliant save to save a sure goal. Six minutes later, Joao Cancelo attempted a cannonball from distance, but David Raya again intervened well to clear the ball for a corner. In the first minute of stoppage time, Ivan Toni was brought into the penalty area and confidently went past an opposing player, but Ederson kicked it into the corner.
In the 98th minute, Brentford mounted a counter-attack where Josh Dasilva received a pass from Visa and made a great pass through Akanji, producing a superb pass to Ivan Toney, who slotted into an empty net to put the Bees ahead.
Seconds after another counter-attack for Brentford, where Toney could have completed his hat-trick, but Kevin de Bruyne struck just short of the goal line to keep his side in the game.
