Netflix released an official synopsis: “Break Point follows, on and off the court, a group of professional tennis players who compete in grueling tournaments with the hope of winning a final, and the even bigger dream of reaching the title of world number one . For an entire year, the team of break point accompanied these big names in tennis around the world on the occasion of the four Grand Slams and the ATP and WTA circuits, to give us this intimate portrait of their daily lives.
In addition to being created by James Gay-Rees, producer of Formula 1: pilots of their destiny and Oscar winner for documentary Amy, break point is directed by Martin Webb, at the helm of the 12 episodes of the automotive series. We can therefore expect an equally qualitative staging, between tense matches, moments of solitude behind the scenes and heart-to-heart interviews.
This new documentary series is not the first produced by Netflix on tennis. The streaming platform has already broadcast the documentaries Naomi Osaka and The other side of sport: game, set and anxiety attack. Two productions that show all the pressure and loneliness involved in a career as a high-level tennis(wo)man, encompassing exciting intimate portraits.
The first five episodes of break point will be available on January 13 on Netflix, the last five will arrive in June.
