Brave Italy dropped the big bomb at the European Basketball Championship and threw out one of the big favorites – Serbia, after a victory with 94:86.
Led by the great NBA star Nikola Jokic, our western neighbors believed that they would repeat the final of the last championship of the Old Continent, but they were ingloriously eliminated in the round of 16.
Decisive for Italy’s success was the last quarter of the match, in which the Squad entered with a deficit of two points, but ended up winning the match by 8 points.
Eight points was the difference after the first quarter, but in favor of the Serbs. Nikola Jokic really did a great job and finished the match as the best on the field.
He had 32 points and 13 rebounds, but it wasn’t enough for Serbia to grab the win.
Italy won the second and third parts, and at the beginning of the fourth, Marco Spisu and Achile Polonnara appeared on the scene, who in three minutes realized 16 points, while during this period Serbia scored only 2.
This was the key moment from which there was no going back for the Serbs. Italy held their lead and held the lead to set up a meeting with France in the quarter-finals.
The hero of the day was the player of Utah Jazz – Lauri Markkanen. He scored 43 points for Finland and led his country to a 94-86 victory over Croatia.
Ironically, the third game of the day ended with a score of 94:86, in which Poland defeated Ukraine.
The last semi-finalist was formed in the match between Greece and the Czech Republic, in which Yanis Antetokounmpo led our southern countries to success with 94:88
