Apple’s iPhone 15 series is expected in the fall, but rumors are already swirling. Even before the release of the current generation, many indiscretions had reached us about it, and they continue to be heard at the start of the year. Today, an analyst from a Hong Kong investment fund gives us an overview of what we can expect from the range.
A more premium product?
According to the analyst, it is not the 15 series that is likely to change the game in terms of design. The next iPhones will retain, according to him, the angular line adopted since the iPhone 12, while the Pro versions would opt for a slightly more premium material. Indeed, it is rumored that the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max would be equipped with a titanium frame, thus abandoning aluminum. A finish that, at Apple, is already on some models of Apple Watch. The Pro variants will also gain buttons with haptic feedback thanks to two new engines. Their use remains to be specified, but there is no doubt that Apple will be able to exploit them. On the other hand, the four models would maintain the same size as Gen 14, namely 6.1 inches for the 15 and 15 Pro models and 6.7 inches for the Plus and Pro Max models.
Inside, Apple could once again garnish the Pro models with its latest chip. The latter will adopt the Apple A17 Bionic (engraved in 3 nm), while the classic and Plus variants would get the A16 of the current iPhone 14 Pro. As for RAM, the Pros will go up to 8GB of RAM, which is 2GB more than the 14 series. USB-C would finally become the standard for charging.
Finally, the telephoto lens could make its appearance, initially on the 15 Pro Max. A module whose optics could be designed by LG and which should be presented during CES on a selection of smartphones. Regarding the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus, Jeff Pu expects the 48-megapixel module to land on the new devices.
As MacRumors argues, the analyst is not as sharp as Ming-Chi Kuo, whose information is often right. However, the rumors we are talking about today overlap with others that have already reached us. Although caution is warranted, there is a good chance that all of this will be confirmed during the course of the year.
