Hyundai Motor Group has announced a partnership with TomTom to use real-time mapping and navigation data to benefit its entire range of European vehicles.

Hyundai Motor Group has strengthened its ties with TomTom in Europe. All Hyundai and Kia vehicles that will be marketed on the Old Continent will have their navigation maps and real-time traffic data supported by TomTom. Genesis, the group’s premium brand, was the first to be equipped with TomTom services when it launched in Europe last summer.

“We are delighted that all future Hyundai and Kia customers in Europe will be able to benefit from the convenience and safety provided by TomTom’s best-in-class location-based technology”comments Haeyoung Kwon, senior executive at Hyundai Motor Group.

According to the release, TomTom’s mapping will enable Hyundai Motor Group’s Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) to better anticipate the road ahead and obtain more relevant traffic information, especially for Level 2 automated driving. is conducted on the difference in height, the layout of the tracks, the angle of the curves and the speed limits. The HDA (Highway Driving Assist) of the group’s vehicles already relies on this data to adapt the speed according to speed limits, or even motorway exits.

On the side of TomTom, Antoine Saucier, CEO, says: “It is a pleasure to extend our relationship with Hyundai Motor Group so that all of its models in Europe are equipped with TomTom technology.”
