A loss to Arsenal ends Liverpool’s title ambitions. That’s what Merseyside manager Jurgen Klopp admitted after Sunday’s 2-3 defeat by Arsenal.
Saka scored the winning goal from the penalty spot to send the Gunners back to the top of the Premier League, with Liverpool already 14 points behind the leaders. The defeat left Liverpool in 10th place, with just two wins from their opening eight games.
So Klopp admitted with regret that Liverpool are no longer title contenders.
“We’re not in the title race. It’s naive to be in this position in the table and think we have a chance. We have problems at the moment. Arsenal are the team in form, top of the table, but we’ve had huge problems,” Klopp said.
Interestingly, before the meeting, the specialist revealed that he expects an improvement in his team’s game after the change of the tactical scheme. After the loss, Klopp insisted that the changes were not the reason for the poor result.
“I think the goals we conceded have nothing to do with the game plan. We are in a difficult moment and we want to go through it together. That is what we are working on,” the Liverpool manager added, declaring that the team will fighting for all other trophies.
